JAKARTA: A group of 24 young people from 12 districts of Meghalaya represented the state at the International Exposure Youth Programme in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event, held from February 16 to February 22, focuses on cultural exchange, leadership, and global collaboration.
The delegation was flagged off on February 14, following a rigorous selection process that saw 600 youths competing for a spot in the programme. The group is accompanied by Bobby Wahlang, Youth Programme Coordinator; Darlene M. Khonglam, Sports Officer (HQs); Barbira Momin, DSO; and Beltish Sangma, PTI.
As part of their itinerary, the delegates participated in a cultural programme and an interactive session with Indonesian youths at the Don Bosco Institute in Jakarta on February 19. The event provided a platform for meaningful discussions, fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
On February 20, the group visited important places in Jakarta like the National Museum, National Monument, Jakarta Cathedral, a bird sanctuary, the Space Centre, and small industries. The tour helped them learn about Indonesia's history, culture, technology, and business.
Meghalaya has participated in the international program four times since it began in 2015. The program is designed to give young students global exposure, teach them leadership skills, and help them grow personally, with the goal of shaping them into future leaders of Meghalaya and the nation.
