SHILLONG: Ri-Bhoi, one of the 112 'Aspirational Districts' in the nation and the only one in Meghalaya, has caught the attention of the central government due to its performance in specific areas of the Central program.

Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi had visited the 'Aspirational District' to oversee the execution of several women's and children's development projects.

The union minister also evaluated the region's performance under important government programs that are centrally financed.
Speaking at a meeting, she expressed her delight with the district's accomplishments and pledged her support for addressing the issues and filling in the gaps in certain indicators.

The minister visited a few of the Ri-Bhoi villages, interacting with pregnant women at the Primary Health Centre in Byrnihat and families at the Transit Home.

Additionally, she went to the Anganwadi centre in Saiden, where she engaged with the center's carers and preschoolers participating in Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNP) activities.

Later that day, at the DC Conference Hall in Nongpoh, the minister met with representatives from every department and district administration to discuss the execution of centrally-sponsored and central sector programs.
Challenges, successes, and advancements on yearly performance goals were discussed, as well as the distribution and use of money from NITI Aayog and the North Eastern Council (NEC), among other programs and projects.
