SHILLONG: Minister for Civil Defence & Home Guards (CD&HG) Metbah Lyngdoh inaugurated the annual conference at Central Training Institute, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong on Tuesday. Addressing the inaugural function, Lyngdoh said that there is a need to strengthen the manpower and the working capacity of the department so as to respond effectively during disasters and natural calamities.
The minister also informed that the government is looking at the possibility of setting up of CD&HG offices in all the districts across the state. Lyngdoh hoped that the deliberations and discussions during the day-long Conference will saw a positive outcome that will bring about strategies and measures to be adopted in the event of natural or man-made calamities. Earlier, Director General, CD&HG, R. P. Agrawal briefed the Minister about the functioning and the activities of the Department.
