MLCU celebrates success of 582 graduates, Shillong

Shillong: Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) on Friday celebrated the success of its 582 graduates in a grand event at their 11th convocation, which was held at Windermere Resort,

Umpling in the presence of the Visitor of the University, the Governor of Meghalaya Ganga Prasad, the Convocation Speaker, Jerry Pinto, MLA of Nongthymmai constituency Charles Pyngrope, the Chancellor of MLCU Dr Glenn C Kharkongor, Vice Chancellor of MLCU Dr VT Darlong, the graduates and faculty members.

The graduates included one PhD, 284 Master’s degrees, 210 Bachelor degrees, 40 MPhil degrees and 47 Diplomas.

The university also awarded an Honourary Doctorate to Meghalaya’s very own cave expert, Brian D Kharpran Daly and also awarded the university’s first Outstanding Alumnus Award to Lian Khan Siam, a graduate from the Department of Management and Commerce Studies of batch 2015.

Presiding over the ceremony as the Visitor of the university, Governor Ganga Prasad, reminded the graduates to be grateful and thankful to their parents and teachers who have helped them to get to where they are.

Prasad stressed on the fact that the graduates should utilize the skills instilled in them by the University to cope with the realities of life and to contribute not only to the upliftment of the state but also of the nation.

The convocation speaker, Jerry Pinto delivered a motivational reminder that life is dynamic and how one should move in accordance to the constant, which is change.
