NEIGHRIMS to start COVID-19 tele-consultation services from May 11

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGHRIMS) will start the tele-consultation services from May 11 in order to reach patients who are in need. The service will cater to those patients who are not able to reach the hospital to consult their doctors in view of the lockdown.

Informing newsmen on Friday about the initiative that will make patients accessible through four dedicated numbers, Director of NEIGHRIMS, Dr DM Thapa said the app is in addition to the COVID-19 consultation services that is being offered.

Besides the numbers – 600990690, 6009944190, 60009948452 and 6009919290 – the NEIGHRIMS official also informed that the patient's can also reach the doctors via WhatsApp and Skype.

The ailing patients attended by any medical practitioner or those lodged in any health centres can avail the facility. The medical professionals will also have translators to cater to the needs of the patients through the telemedicine and consultation service.
