Never felt like interim CM: Conrad K Sangma

SHILLONG: Barely 24 hours before taking oath as a member of the State Legislative Assembly, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told The Sentinel in an exclusive telephonic chat from New Delhi that he had never felt even once like an interim Chief Minister of the State.

Conrad K Sangma resigned as the member of the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after winning the south Tura bypolls to adhere to the constitutional obligations of his continuation as the Chief Minister of the State. The Sentinel asked him on whether he considered himself as an interim Chief Minister in the past five and a half months, He said, “I have never thought of the term interim because my team and I started working from the day one of our government.”

Making it clear that he never thought of being a ‘stop gap’ Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma stated, “From the first day of my government, we collectively work to look at the challenges, commitments and solutions to all the ailments that plaque our State.” Sangma spoke about many constraints that is related to the financial disorder emanating from the multiple variants of the past.“We are working to streamline to a point where collection, revenue generation, implementation and monitoring of projects reaches a certain threshold to regenerate the system,” stated Conrad adding,”Proper check and balance will have to be make realistic to thwart all operational flaws within the system.” Asked on the solutions that his government has to address in different realms, Meghalaya Chief Minister maintains that there are no quick fix solutions to problems that his government has inherited.“Our commitments is clear that we will address all issues pertaining to the public”, he said.
