SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate, Garod LSN Dykes on Saturday extended the Corona-induced night curfew as a part of the 'Containment Measures' in the District with immediate effect. The move is a means to shield the District from an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases.

Now, night Curfew will start from 8 pm to 5 am daily. Funeral gatherings are permitted up to a maximum number of 50 persons.

Engagement/marriage ceremonies outside places of Worship is permitted up to 1/3 seating capacity but subject to a maximum number of 100 persons in spacious halls/open areas and 50 persons in private residences. No wedding reception is permitted. All weekly markets shall remain closed.

Inter-State movement of persons shall continue to be restricted. This shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam/Tripura/Manipur/ Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the National Highway NH-06 (old name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.

Permitted Activities: The order allows 50% of shops to open at Iawmusiang, CNI Market, lawchyiap (JPC Market), Iaw Seinraj and Iawthymme, Ladthalaboh, Jowai to be strictly followed and regulated by the Market Committees between 9 am to 6 pm.

Only 50% of shops are permitted to open at Temporary Vending Zones Iaw Sein Raij, Iawmusiang, Iawchyiap (JPC market) Chutwakhu and MTC Parking lot, Iawmusiang between 9 am to 6 pm.

Opening of Essential and non-Essential Shops are permitted to open from Monday to Saturday between 9 am to 6 pm.

Lay Bye Market lalong is permitted to open on Odd/Even number Irom Monday to Saturday between 9 am to 6 pm subject to strictly follow the SOP of the Lay Bye Market Committee. Vehicles for the transportation of Wholesale Vegetables are not permitted to enter Jowai Town.

Construction activities including road construction etc. are permitted subject to strict compliance of Covid-19 Protocols.

Banks and Post Office have been allowed to function at 100% strength daily. The e-commerce activities and courier services are permitted subject to strict compliance of Covid -19 Protocols. Central Government Offices and State Government Offices may function at 100% strength and shall close at 5 pm daily.

The order has allowed 50 % movement of public/private transport within the district with 50% of the existing capacity for movement of persons from 9 am to 6 pm.
