SHILLONG: The MLA of Mawphlang Constituency SK Sunn, on December 27, released a new Khasi film titled ‘Jingim’ meaning ‘Life’ which will be releasing in cinemas in the days to come.
During the release of the film, the cast members were also introduced which included Phira Dohtdong, Joseph Pyngrope, Iarap Biam, Arman Disiar kum , Wanri Pyngrope, Nakiwanda Warjri beside others.
The film was directed by Kiki Garod and Producer by Section Syiemlieh.
The release was also attended by Commander Shangpliang, President of Meghalaya Film Makers Association (MFLiM), headman of Mawkalum and others.
In his speech, SK Sunn assured that he will write to the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to construct a new cinema hall to showcase Khasi films.
“After sending the letter it is also needed to apprise the Chief Minister on the grievances and problems encountered by Khasi filmmakers because till date there is a lack of a platform to promote filmmaking as there are fewer cinema halls,” he said. He also lauded the Chwa Syiemlieh Film Production for selecting a number of locations located at Mawphlang constituency to shoot the film.
