Night Curfew lifted in East Khasi Hills District areas

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Administration has totally lifted the night curfew in the areas under Lumdiengjri and Sadar Police Stations as well as their respective outposts and beat houses in Shillong with effect from 4 am of December 22. The areas under curfew -- that was imposed on December 12 -- were Jaiaw,

Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Riatsamthiah, Wahingdoh, Mission, Mawprem, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Qualapatty, Wahthapbru, Sunny Hill, Cantonment, Boucher Road, Mawlong Hat (excluding localities beyond Umshyrpi bridge) in view of the law-and-order situation in the State following the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Parliament. The State government had also lifted the ban on Internet and SMS services on the evening of December 20. This ban in Meghalaya was imposed on December 12.
