No ordinance issued in Meghalaya: Dr. Jitendra Singh

Shillong: Allaying fears related to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security ordinance passed by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, the Union Government has categorically stated that no ordinance with regard to registration of individuals visiting Meghalaya has been issued till date. This information was provided by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Thursday. The ordinance passed by the government two weeks ago with a wish to bring into immediate effect is lying with Governor Tathagata Roy. Roy on Wednesday said, “I have received the ordinance but I will have to examine it”.
