Shillong: The Meghalaya Government has categorically stated that the high-level committee constituted to assess and understand the issues related to the Harijan Colony in Shillong will not be disbanded.
The Harijan Panchayat committee has petitioned before Governor Tathagata Roy seeking his intervention to ensure that the alleged ‘mala fide’ constitution is in contravention to the High Court order, the National Human Rights Council and the Nation Commission of Minorities (NCM) orders.
Reacting to queries related to the issue, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told newsmen on Thursday morning, “there is no question of the high-level committee being disbanded and the government is on the job”.
The Chief Minister said: “It’s not a about going slow or fast. It’s about making the work that should go in process”.
