Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, has issued an order ordering stores and businesses to have their staff vaccinated by June 24 in order to reopen.  The shop owners have been instructed to post the vaccination status of employees in a noticeable way in their store. The decree further said that any establishment that has not completed the immunisation of its employees would be unable to open on June 24.

Regarding the reopening of stores in Iewduh, the East Khasi Hills DC plans to meet with KHADC CEM Titosstarwell Chyne on Tuesday to finalise the preparations.  In another order, the Deputy Commissioner authorised the District Transport Officer to devise a methodology for regulating public transportation for staggered operation beginning next week, depending on the scenario. 

All commercial vehicle drivers, including local cabs, tourist taxis, and buses, must be vaccinated with at least the first dose before they may resume operation.  Meghalaya's COVID-19 caseload grew to 42,309 on Monday after 403 more people tested positive for the virus, according to a senior health official.

Ten persons have died as a result of the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 743, according to Health Services chief Aman War. As many as 487 people recovered from the viral infectious disease, bringing the state's overall number of recoveries to 37, 037.

So far, the state has examined 6.28 lakh samples for COVID-19 testing. According to War, a total of 5.03 lakh people had been immunised in the state on Sunday. PTI According to him, there are currently 4,529 active coronavirus cases in the northeastern state.

Following an assessment of the COVID-19 situation in Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on Friday that his Cabinet has decided to prolong the lockdown, at least in the East Khasi Hills District, till June 21. The Cabinet has delegated authority to the various Deputy Commissioners to determine whether to extend the lockdown in other districts.
