SHILLONG: While one more person tested COVID-19 positive in Meghalaya, five others recovered from the virus on Sunday.

Health authorities informed that the person who tested positive is an Army personnel and had returned to the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) Headquarters here from Guwahati.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr said that the Army man tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday night. "The patient is asymptomatic; and is now admitted at the isolation ward in Military Hospital, Shillong," Dr Warr informed. The Director of Health Services also informed that the Army authorities are carrying out the patient's contact tracing.

Among the five patients who have recovered are a woman who was admitted with labour pain and had tested positive before delivery and her husband who too was COVID-19 positive and were admitted in the NEIGRIHMS (North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences) here. The woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy on June 12. "The swab sample of the new born baby also tested negative," Dr Warr informed.

Besides, three others were discharged from the Civil Hospital here.

Meghalaya has so far recorded 44 cases; six are active, and 37 have fully recovered while one had died on April 15.
