SHILLONG: Based on the contact tracing status and test reports of the high risk contacts in Lad Smit Market, and in view of the reports received thereof and in supersession to order issued on 27th July, 2020 and in exercise of the powers under the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and Amendments thereof, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 20th August, 2020 has allowed the resumption of operation of Lad Smit Market subject to strict compliance to the SOP issued by the Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the timing of operation of the market will be from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM everyday, except Sunday. The shop owners and the public must mandatorily wear masks at all times. Practice of hand hygiene and hand sanitizers to be used frequently. The shop owners and the public should strictly maintain social distancing of 2 metres or 6 feet. Assembly or gathering at any point is not allowed.

The market committees of Dorbar Umphyrnai, Kynton U Mon and Ur Masi U Joh will be responsible for strict enforcement of protocols of the Health Department in their respective jurisdiction of the market. Further, the Committees will be responsible for maintenance of cleanliness and ensuring that no vendors are allowed on the roadside. Only fixed shops will be allowed to operate in the market and the vendors and hawkers shall sell their goods only from the identified spot behind the Lay-By.

The committees shall mandatorily maintain record of each shopkeeper and vendor in their respective jurisdiction and furnish the records as and when it is called for by the District Administration and the shop owners and the public should strictly comply to the Prohibitory Orders and the Curfew Orders issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills from time to time, a press release said.
