People of Manipur looking for alternative, NPP will fill vacuum: CM Conrad

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People's Party (NPP) chief Conrad K Sangma on Monday kicked-off election campaign for Manipur from Aba Ground in Kshetrigao constituency, with a campaign meeting for party candidate Sheikh Noorul Hassan, who will be contesting at the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2022. He was accompanied by MLAs Thomas Sangma and Marcuise Marak for two election meetings, which were held in Imphal.

NPP chief addressed two election meetings, one for Kshetrigao constituency and the other for Yaiskul constituency, where Huidrom Vikramjit Singh is the party candidate. Speaking at the rallies, NPP chief Conrad Sangma said that the party was of the strong conviction that people of Manipur would bestow its support to NPP.

Sangma said that the NPP was working for the overall issues and concerns of the Northeast and it was committed to further work for growth and development of the Northeast. The NPP national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister sought the people's mandate in Manipur to ensure that the objective of NPP to unitedly work for Northeast is achieved.

"We have a vision for Manipur, Northeast and their entire region. To realize our dreams, we need your support," he said. "Election in Manipur has given us an opportunity to seek people's mandate to take our agenda forward of Northeast forward", he added. Sangma said that people of Manipur is looking for an alternative and NPP is in the best position to fill up the vacuum that is available in Manipur. "People of Manipur are looking for alternative and people want NPP to be single largest party. We are confident that people will give their mandate to NPP," the NPP national president added.
