SHILLONG: Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem on Monday informed that the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) has not had any discussion concerning the upcoming MDC election scheduled for next year.
“At present, we are still engaging in finding solutions to the recent squabbles and infighting within the party. After everything is solved we can discuss the MDC election issue in a Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the party,” Gavin told The Sentinel here today.
Earlier this month, four MDCs of the PDF in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) which included Latiplang Kharkongor, James Sylliang, Blanding Warjri, and Grace Mary Kharpur had resigned from the party.
“We had issued show cause notices to three of the MDCs for supporting the Executive Committee in KHADC led by HS Shylla. However, none of them showed up to explain their decision. Hence we took the decision to suspend them,” he said.
When asked on the progress of the sub-committee constituted by the party to find suggestions and solutions to the problems within the PDF in which all the four MLAs of the party are members, he said, “The committee is still compiling the reports and in the next few days the committee will submit the complete report and findings to the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the party.”
