Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) suits distributed to police stations in Meghalaya

As COVID-19 cases are increasing in the state, the police has has distributed Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) suit to every outpost and police station.

SHILLONG: As COVID-19 cases are increasing in the state, the police has has distributed Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) suit to every outpost and police station. According to police sources, the PPE suit is intended to be utilised by police personnel when they are making any arrest so as to safeguard themselves from the virus.

''Despite the fact that we have provided these PPE suit there are still police personnel who gets the virus and this might be from people they have interacted after their duty is over," police sources said.

The source while pointing out that the PPE suit is to be used one time only, hence of needed they will write to the Health Minister AL Hek to assist on providing additional PPE suits to the police department.

"Right now when we go making arrests our personal have to wear PPE suits, hence if we need more we will have talks with the health department," police sources said. It was also informed that every police station has its very own Health Hygiene Committee and the Officer Incharge of the PS heads the committee.
