SHILLONG: The Byrnihat Police Outpost, in Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya, has been temporarily closed after one of the officials at the Outpost tested positive for COVID-19.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) Meghalaya, GK Iangrai, said that police officials of the Outpost have been placed under medical observation. At present, all official works of the Outpost have been shifted to Anti-Infiltration Checkpost at Byrnihat.

"The Outpost is being disinfected as per protocols and once the establishment has been declared fit for re-occupation, the Outpost will be opened for official works," Iangrai said.

He also requested the general public residing within the jurisdiction of the Outpost to approach the Anti-Infiltration Checkpost for any urgent requirement or assistance.
