SHILLONG: Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek has said that a healthcare group has expressed interest to run the Cancer Wing in the Civil Hospital, Shillong.

Hek, however, has made it clear to the firm that the proposal would not be possible as the State Government has to float an Expression of Interest (EoI) first so that other parties can also bid for the same.

According to the Health Minister recently, the HCL Group, inspected the Cancer Wing and found out a few anomalies.

“I can’t exactly tell you what these anomalies are,” the State Health Minister said.

However, Hek informed that the Health department has moved for funds amounting to Rs 3.80 crore to rectify these anomalies.

He also informed that after the amount is sanctioned, work will start and after completion the EoI will be floated.

Hek informed that the Cancer Wing at the Civil Hospital Shillong will be ready by this year but is unsure of whether the formalities of who will run it will be completed.
