Quarantine mandatory for returnees: Meghalaya MLA Lambor Malngiang

SHILLONG: The MLA/MDC of Nongkrem constituency Lambor Malngiang in a meeting with various dorbar shnongs of the area and with the cooperation of residents and parents of those stranded outside the State has taken a decision that all those who have returned should first be admitted to the quarantine centre set up by the dorbar.

The decision was taken in view of the safety of the residents and family members of those who have returned to the constituency from other parts of the country and to prevent and fight against the spread of COVID-19.

The dorbar shnong which has set up its own quarantine center includes Nongkrem Dorbar Pyllun, Dorbar Shnong Umphrup, Dorbar Shnong Smit, Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun beside others under Nongkrem constituency.

Nongkrem Dorbar Pyllun has set up its quarantine centre at Government UP School, Nongkrem. The Dorbar Shnong Umphrup at Government LP School, Umphrup while the Dorbar Shnong of Smit has set up its centre at Smit Higher Secondary School. The Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun has set up its centre at three locations which includes Gilead Bethel English School, Laitkor Nongdaneng, Laitkor Presbyterian LP School. Laitkor Mawrie and Federica Music Institute, Laitkor Rngi.

The village head of different dorbar shnong after the meeting with the MLA and parents of those returning from outside the State said that this decision was taken after discussion with all concerned and to remove the problem of home quarantine from the family members.
