Relaxations allowed with mandatory COVID-19 SOPs in East Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner, in an order issued on June 13, 2020, informed that all shops operating from fixed premises will open from 8 am to 8 pm in 'Shillong Urban Agglomeration' for areas falling under Umshyrpi Bridge upto Seventh Mile, Upper Shillong of Mylliem C&RD Block and all areas falling within Mawlai and Mawpat C&RD Blocks. However, barber shops, beauty parlours, salons, cyber cafe, gaming parlours, jackpot parlours and lottery counters shall remain closed till further orders.

However, this order will not apply to areas falling under Police Bazaar, GS Road, Keating Road, Jail Road, Cantonment areas, Jeep Stand, Garikhana, Paltan Bazaar, Motphran and Iewduh.

According to the order, alternate shops on a rotation basis will open in the shopping malls and complexes and they will have to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on COVID-19 preventive measures as issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department.

The owners of shopping malls/complexes and shopkeepers will have to strictly adhere to the alternative opening of shops on the rotation basis; and they will also have to compulsorily comply to the SOPs of Government and instructions from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District failing which the shop or the shopping mall/complex concerned will be closed down and legal action intitated against the violaters.
