SHILLONG: The North Eastern Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences Resident Doctors Association (NRDA) have expressed its anger over an adverse character certificate issued by the administration to a doctor of the institute.

According to the NRDA, on March 22, the NEIGRIHMS administration issued an inappropriate integrity, character and conduct certificate to Dr Tony Ete.

According to the resident doctors NEIGRIHMS authorities has time and again proved its partiality.

The NRDA said that the institute’s administration certificate read, “…he (Dr Tony Ete) resorted to indiscipline, disturbed academic atmosphere and examination process, showed misbehavior, and misconduct to higher authorities in NEIGRIHMS. His integrity was doubtful.”

The resident doctors association said that Dr Ete who completed his DM Cardiology from NEIGRIHMS, is absolutely baseless and makes no sense.

The NRDA blamed the Director of the institute for the adverse character certificate.

“We believe that this has got nothing to do with Dr Tony Ete’s academic conduct, but a personal grudge of the incumbent Director, Dean against the victim, which is very unbecoming of an administrative head and shameful,” the NDRA said.

The association has demanded the immediate revocation of the “obnoxious” piece of paper in the form of “character/conduct/integrity certificate issued by the Dean, Dr AC Phukan, who alleged that it was done under proper guidance of the Director of NEIGRIHMS.

The NRDA has given the NEIGRIHMS four days time to revoke the certificate and threatened to carry out a “democratic movement” if the demand is not met.
