Restrictive order imposed

Shillong, June 2: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, has promulgated an order under Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting the sale of petrol, diesel etc in jericans, bottles and any other containers to members of the public by all the petrol pumps within East Khasi Hills district.

The order was issued in view of information as received of the serious breakdown of law and order in Shillong city (Motphran, Mawkhar and adjoining areas) wherein there is likelihood of serious breach of peace which may lead to acts of arson, targeting vehicles and causing loss of life and property from today and the following days. The order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
