Rs 16,66,750 realized as fine by Shillong Traffic Police

SHILLONG, July 19: The police informed that an amount of Rs 16,66,750 was realized as fine by the Shillong Traffic Police during the month of June, 2018 as compared to Rs 15,96,750 during the month of May, 2018 from the violators of the MV Act.

BJ Laloo, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) East Khasi Hills further informed that 580 were fined for wrong parking, 208 were ‘no entry’ violators, 342 for driving without seatbelt, 11 were compounded for driving under the influence of alcohol (Drunken Driving) and Non – FIR was taken up for one offender for the same, 288 without driving License, 13 for Permit violation, 47 for driving without Helmet in addition to the other offences under the MV Act.

Meanwhile, the police have informed the public who own Local Taxi/Auto Rickshaws in East Khasi Hills District that the issue of stickers with allotted numbers will commence from the 23rd July, 2018 till the 28th September, 2018 from the office of the undersigned.

After the mentioned due date gets over, late fee of Rs. 500 only per month will be charged from the owners/representatives of the Taxis/Auto Rickshaws.

The Police informed that owners or their representatives are to produce the original documents at the time of issuing the stickers along with photocopy as the same will be kept for office records like registration certificate, permit, insurance certificate, fitness certificate, Trading License for Non Tribal owners, professional tax, passenger tax, M.L.M.T.U Certificate and a pollution certificate.

After all documents have been found to be valid, a sticker will be issued and it should be pasted on the left side of the front windshield.
