Schools in Meghalaya are reopening for a few activities

The activities include student-teacher counselling, assignments and submission of work by students of standard six and above

Shillong: The government of Meghalaya has allowed the reopening of schools. However, in view of the pandemic, the government disapproved regular classes in any educational institution any time soon.

D P Wahlang, the principal secretary, education department said that the regular activities at the educational institutions will remain closed until further notice. However, the schools will be permitted to organise activities like student-teacher counselling, assignments and submission of work of the students of standard six and above.

The schools in Meghalaya were allowed to partially open in the month of September.

As per the government notification, the schools have rationalised the school curriculum and adjusted the academic calendar for all the levels this year. The government has asked the schools to develop individual microplanning relating to flexibility in timings, student visit and uniform code. They have also been asked to ensure that the students visit the school for a short duration of time.

The notification also said that they are considering the direction by the ministry of home affairs, which focused on easing of restrictions in areas outside containment zones across the country. It said that the schools should prepare a continuous learning plan for students, continue online or distance learning modes and ensure 50 per cent attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff.

Anyone who is sick should not come to school. The health protocols related to the pandemic should be strictly followed, said the notification.
