Secular alliance not possible: Paul Lyngdoh

Staff Correspondent

Shillong: The proposed formation of a front under the North East Secular Front (NESF) received a setback after the Asom Gano Parishad’s return to the BJP fold in Assam. With the AGP returning back to the BJP arms, UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said that it will be difficult to create a common regional political platform at this juncture.

“I will not be able to tell you further on the formation of the secular alliance at this juncture but we will try to work out again after the parliamentary elections”, stated Paul Lyngdoh.

He refused to comment on the AGP backtracking from the common platform that the regional parties of the region have mooted. “Probably, the AGP has its own compulsion, but out endeavour will carry on”, Lyngdoh stated.

The UDP, notwithstanding its diminished stake in Meghalaya politics is still a force to reckon with in the State.
