Seminar On Homeopathy Focuses On Modern Features

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong — an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India — organised a day-long regional seminar-cum-workshop on the theme ‘Problems and Prospects of Homoeopathic Education in North-East India’ at the institute’s campus in Mawdiangdiang, here on Saturday.

The programme started with a scientific session presented by four faculties of NEIAH on different topics related to the theme for the seminar-cum- workshop.

This was followed by the inaugural function where Prof. (Dr.) PK Goswami, Director of NEIAH, delivered the welcome address.

Padmashree Prof. (Dr.) VK Gupta, Chairman, Scientific Advisory Committee, CCRH, New Delhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest; Dr. RK Manchanda, Deputy Director, Senior Administrative Grade, Government of NCT, Delhi as Distinguished Guest and Resource Person; Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Ash, Head of Department of Anatomy, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata as Invited Guest and Resource Person.

The Chief Guest highlighted the global scenario of Homoeopathy and its status in the present “golden era of the system”. He added a note on the present challenges and need of introspection and retrospection in resolving these issues with suggestions for improvement.

A vote of thanks was delivered by Kimchin Lhangum, Deputy Director, NEIAH, followed by the National Anthem for the conclusion of the Inaugural function.

The inaugural function was followed by the second ‘Scientific Session’ where two eminent figures of Homoeopathy system delivered their lectures. Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Ash spoke about the challenges and problems in Homoeopathic Medical Education, qualification of teachers, the standard format of case taking and follow-up documentation in Homoeopathy and the need to implement ‘Quality Research’ right from the Under Graduate-level. Dr. RK Manchanda highlighted the shortcomings in the present BHMS and MD Curriculum, activities of CCRH in Research, Public Health, Prevention of Diseases and Linking Education with Research.

The programme was concluded with a Valedictory Session where Nilanjan Sanyal (Retired IAS), Chairperson, Board of Governors, CCH, New Delhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He said that Homoeopathy awareness is much vast and improving in North Eastern States and the future of Homoeopathy is bright as NEIAH as a model institute is progressing rapidly in short period.

A vote of thanks was delivered by the organizing secretary followed by the National Anthem.
