Senior United Democratic Party leader Bindo M Lanong keen to contest 2023 polls

SHILLONG: Senior United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Bindo M Lanong has expressed his intention to contest the 2023 legislative assembly election.

"After a new regional political party has been floated in the State, it has enticed me to contest the 2023 assembly election. However, a final decision on this matter will be taken later," Lanong told The Sentinel.

Earlier this month, former Nongkrem MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit floated a new regional political party christined as Voice of the People's Party (VPP) which also includes prominent figure of the State as members.

"From where this new party sets up a candidate I will contest from that constituency in 2023, this VPP is a mushroom party," he said. He, however, said that the final decision would be taken after consultation as many people were calling him to contest the election form his previous constituency.
