Shall contest Assembly polls in 2023 if high command wishes: Ernest Mawrie

SHILLONG: Meghalaya BJP state president Ernest Mawrie has stated that if the party high command in Delhi advises him to contest the Assembly election in 2023, he will comply.

"I'm working for the party and we have just completed the setting up a Mandla in West Shillong constituency. Now we are moving to the North Shillong constituency," Mawrie told reporters here on Saturday. When asked, he also said, ''Both the BJP MLAs will remain in the party. They are Sanbor Shullai (Cabinet Minister) and AL Hek (Advisor of the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma)."

He pointed out, "Hek was recently appointed as an executive member of the national party. Besides, he is a senior party leader. Hence there is no question for him to leave the party.
