A Reporter

SHILLONG: Wresting full confidence in the party leaderhip, Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala said if the party feels that his chances of winning the MP election from Shillong is slim then they can always allot the party ticket to another candidate who has a better chance of winning the election.

“But if the party feels that I can still win the election then they should offer me the party ticket,” he told The Sentinel

It may be mentioned that there are presently four Congress candidates for the Lok Sabha polls - Pala, HDR Lyngdoh, John F Kharshing and Kenney Khyriem.

Pala said, “This is not the first time that many aspiring candidates are applying for a ticket. In my first MP election, there were Charles Pyngrope, HS Shylla and others and in my second innings, there were a few who had sought a party ticket and this time around its not different.”

He pointed out that in other States, the sytem is the same, be it Congress or any other political party.

When asked about the other members of the party vying for a party ticket, Pala said that he does not want to comment on the decision taken by his party members.
