SNSBH moves Conrad K Sangma over notification on COVID-19 guidelines

-- Organization terms Health order as 'Diktat' to Dorbars

SHILLONG: The Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynñie-wtrep (SNSBH) has sought the intervention of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma over the recent order issued by the State Health department, which according to them was more of a 'diktat' to the Dorbar Shnongs.

The organization strongly opposed the order issued by the Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Health & Family Welfare, Sampath Kumar asking the Dorbar Shnongs to implement the guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The tone of his order was more of a diktat than a request; and this has disappointed many headmen," SNSBH general secretary RL Blah said, adding that the order had directed the Dorbar Shnongs to implement the guidelines.

"We have been extending our support and cooperation to the State government in the fight against the present pandemic. However, the attitude of a bureaucrat due to the lack of understanding about the functioning of the local Dorbars, was a bit too much for the local headmen," Blah said.

He also informed that the Chief Minister has assured the organization that he would convene a meeting with all bureaucrats.

According to Blah, there is a need to maintain cordial relationship between the government and the traditional Dorbar Shnongs to ensure that the spread of COVID-19 is contained to a large extent.
