SHILLONG: The Syiem of Hima Nongspung Patrick Syiemiong has washed his hands off concerning the issuing of no objection certificate (NOC) to the Assam government for the PMGSY road project in Balakhawa, Ri-bhoi district while alleging that it was the secretary of the Hima Michael Warjri who had issued the NOC. The Syiem of Hima Nongspung made the allegation against the secretary in front of Deputy CEM KHADC Pyniaid Sing Syiem, EM in-charge Land Titosstarwell Chyne and EM in-charge Youth Affairs Rangkynsai Kharbuki after he was summoned by the council on Thursday.

However, the secretary of the Hima did not attend the meeting despite being summoned by the council.

Speaking to reporters, KHADC Deputy CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem said, “The council is yet to take a final decision on this matter as they still need to listen to the statement from the secretary of the Hima who was unable to attend the meeting.”

“We will once again summon the secretary of Hima Nongspung on May 29 and then after listening to his statement we will be able to take a final decision and take action as per the rules and laws of the district council,” he said.

Meanwhile, EM in-charge Land Titosstarwell Chyne urged all the traditional heads in border areas to shy away from issuing NOCs concerning any developmental activities.
