Television Producers’ Forum of North East India (TPFNEI) seeks software package for NE

SHILLONG: A delegation of Television Producers’ Forum of North East India (TPFNEI) met Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at his office chamber and submitted a memorandum, requesting the Prime Minister of India through the Chief Minister, to re-start North East Special Software Development package, which was started in 1996.

But for no logical reason, the same was stopped in the year 2012. The TPFNEI delegation apprised the Chief Minister that, because of the stoppage of the Commissioned Programme of Doordarshan, a large number of technicians like Cameraman, Video Editor, Music Director, Cinematographers, Script Writers, Artists and Directors are without any job.

Chief Minister paid a very patient hearing and assured that, he will take up the matter with appropriate authority as demands are genuine. He also felt that, in view of the Look East Policy of Government of India, it is quite appropriate that we showcase the North East in right earnest to the rest of the country and the world.
