Thangkhiew is Not Confident of Winning: Ronnie V Lyngdoh

SHILLONG: Former Cabinet Minister Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Friday said that the Mylliem MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew is not confident of winning the upcoming MDC election hence has taken a decision to change uniform and maybe join the People Democratic Front (PDF). Lyngdoh has also announced that he will be contesting the KHADC MDC election in 2019 from Mylliem constituency from the Congress.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Ronnie V Lyngdoh said, “Her intention to join the PDF is to win the election however this shows that she does not have any ideology because in the span of 10 years as an MDC she has shifted party in three occasions.”

He said that because of this even the people of the constituency have lost confidence in her as Thangkhiew keeps on switching her uniform from one political party to another.

“This shows that she has been depending on former HSPDP leader Ardent M Basaiawmoit to win the previous MDC election and now she is depending on present PDF MLA from Mylliem Hamlet Dohling,” he said.

He said that this shows that Thangkhiew is not mature as she keeps on changing from one party to another and this move has made the people of the constituency to lose confidence in her.

“The PDF is a party created by the BJP because the main objective of the BJP is to weaken the Congress and even the party leader PN Syiem was a former Congress legislator and now he is the leader of the PDF and the public also knows that the PDF is associated with the BJP,” he said.

When asked, he said, “I don’t know about winning and losing however that depends on the people of the constituency if they want me to once again serve them as an MDC.”
