SHILLONG: Shillong reverberated with rhythms and beats of melodious sounds when the students and faculty of the Department of Music, Martin Luther Christian University took to the stage on the evening of May 10 and performed in the musical performance titled, “Ha Jylli ki Khriang”, at the Dorbar Hall, Mission Compound.

The literal translation of the title of the event isThe Circle of Rhythms”, and it has been named so because this particular performance is a melting pot of different genres.

The main objective of this event is to provide the Graduate and Post Graduate students a platform to showcase their skills and technicalities that have been taught to them throughout the semester.

“This musical performance is a part of the students’ curriculum and it gives them the confidence to showcase their creativity and originality in music. This sort of an event can also help our students to be noticed by potential employers like music studios etc.”, said the HoD of the Department, Dr. Mebanlamphang Lyngdoh.

The evaluators for the evening were Tipriti Kharbangar from the band Soulmate, Timmy Kharhujon from the band Snowhite and Ebenezer Sumer, an alumni of MLCU and a faculty at Furtados School of Music, Mumbai.

One of the evaluators commented, “MLCU has produced great young talents. It’s a prestige to be part of the concert. Get drunk with this music and not with intoxicating substances.”
