Training programme on 'Incident Response System' begins at Shillong

SHILLONG: A two-day training programme on “Incident Response System” (IRS) for sub-division and block-level officials of East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya has inaugurated Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills and Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, M War Nongbri here on Thursday.

The inaugural function was also attended by MB Tongper, Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, DDMA, East Khasi Hills district, P Lyngba, DDMO, East Khasi Hills, among others.

The training was organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Shillong.

In her brief address, War said that the training was conducted to familiarize the members of the Incident Response Teams (IRT) about their role and responsibilities based on the Incident Response System (IRS) for quick and effective response as a team during any disaster.

The resource persons for the training programme are P Shylla, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, P Lyngba, DDMO and S Bordoloi, DM, consultant.

The topics for the training includes background overview of Incident Response System, principles and features of IRS, steps to conduct mock drill, organization and staffing, incident facilities and how the emergency response will get activated.
