Tribute to Clifford

SHILLONG, March 9: Lawmakers in the Meghalaya Assembly today paid tributes to Chokpot MLA Clifford Marak who passed away in a Guwahati hospital on March 1. Initiating the obituary reference on the first day of the budget session, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that he remembered Marak as a man with courage who was “blunt” and “candid” while raising issues concerning the people of the state in general and Garo Hills region in particular in the Assembly. “He championed to focus for creation of Garoland for the Garo community,” Dr Sangma said.
