SHILLONG: The government will install two cryogenic tanks one at Umsawli, Shillong and another at Jengjal, Tura, it was informed on Friday.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that at Umsawli the plant will be ready by June 15. Dr. War said that this is a 13 KL plant.

"This cryogenic plant is expected to deliver 1000 cylinders refilling capacity in a day.

The Director of Health Services also informed that another 20 KL plant will come up in Jengjal, Tura.

"We expect the tank to be here by two weeks' time, site preparation has already been done now only civil works is left," Dr. War informed.

He said that this plant will cater to 2000 cylinders per day.

"We expect these plants will be sufficient to give continuous supply of oxygen both to Garo Hills region and Khasi, Jaintia and Ri-Bhoi districts," the Director of Health Services informed.

Dr. War also informed that six oxygen plants generating about 600 LPM, is being set up in Civil Hospital Shillong and will be functional from Monday which will cater to 25 Covid beds.

Also in R. P. Chest Hospital the installation of oxygen plant will begin by Saturday. Dr. War also informed that the plants in Ganesh Das Hospital will be functional from Saturday.

"The plants in Civil Hospital Shillong, R. P. Chest Hospital and Ganesh Das Hospital will be from PM-CARES," he informed.

He also said that the plants to be set up in Jowai, Nongpoh and Tura has been sanctioned by the UNDP will be functional by next week. Another plant from the state government will come up in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills district.

He said that over and above these there are 45 LPM plants which the government expects to set up in Community Health Centres across the state if the situation necessitates.

Meanwhile, the state on Friday recorded 25 new Covid deaths, 828 new infections and 419 new recoveries.

With this the state has 414 deaths, 6861 active cases and a total of 20480 recovered cases.
