Vincent H Pala Confident of Being Chosen For Lok Sabha Polls

Shillong: A confident sitting Congress Member of Parliament (MP) from Shillong constituency Vincent H Pala indicated that he will be the Congress consensus choice for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. His affirmation comes at a time when rival parties are talking about fielding a common candidate against the any Congress contender.

“Firstly, I’ll be the consensus candidate of the Congress party for the Shillong seat and not a common candidate of those (NPP-UDP-HSPDP) who are still working with it”, Pala confidently stated during an interaction with The Sentinel. Former State Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh has applied for the Congress party ticket while one nondescript block Congress committee have tried to portrayed John F Kharshiing as the candidate. Kharshiing never won the State elections nor has no actual clout in State politics.

Going by Congress sources, Pala claims that he is the man seeking the third term from Shillong is apparent. The regional parties comprising of the UDP, the HSPDP and the NPP are still working out to find a common candidate whereas the BJP has decided to go on its own in the upcoming polls. Already, the BJP has projected Jemino Mawthoh as the common candidate to take on the Congress candidate.
