Woman gives birth to baby in ambulance : Shillong

SHILLONG, July 18: A woman gave birth to a baby while she was being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

On the evening of July 17, the 108 emergency service received a call of a pregnancy case referred by Bhoirymbong PHC with complaints that the patient was facing complicacies.

While the 32-year old patient was being transported to Shillong, she went into full labour for which the ambulance had to be stopped so that the EMT (emergency medical technician) could conduct the delivery. The EMT, Dolly Tohtih, conducted a safe delivery in the ambulance and a healthy baby girl was delivered at around 8:30 pm. Both mother and baby are doing fine. Both the mother (Silda Matlang) and the baby were shifted back and admitted to Bhoirymbong CHC.
