Work of Assembly building going on at fast pace: Metbah Lyngdoh

SHILLONG: Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday inspected the construction of the Assembly building at Mawdiangdang. Lyngdoh was accompanied by PWD (Building) Minister Coming Ymbon.

During the inspection, the Assembly Speaker had a meeting with the officials of the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, a PSU of the Uttar Pradesh government which has been engaged by the State to construct the building.

Speaking to newsmen after the inspection, Lyngdoh expressed his happiness at the fast pace of work by the company.

“On the part of the contractors, they have taken pains to see that the work progresses,” the Assembly Speaker said.

He also said that he has no doubt that the construction will be completed on time.

Meanwhile, an official of the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, Anuj Kansal said that the target is that he would like to complete the project before time.

Kansal informed that the starting date of this construction was June 15 2019, and the time given is 36 months.

“But I have set my target at 30 months, so from today, if you ask me I am very satisfied with the progress of work and we have almost completed the foundation,” he said.

“So from today if you ask me within two years time I will finish this work,” Kansal added.

When asked if the PSU will go and complete the construction of the Assembly building even if the State Government won’t be able to pay, he said that till today there has not been any fund problem.

“For this project, I am getting full support from the all the stakeholders. In future I can’t say what will happen. At present I am getting full support at all levels,” he added.
