Assam Rifles conducts lecture on drug menace at Khawbung in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organised an "Awareness Lecture on Drug Menace" at Khawbung Village in Mizoram on Thursday.

The aim of the event was to promote fitness and motivate the villagers not to indulge in drug abuse.

Special emphasis was laid on the importance of awareness against drug abuse and negative effect amongst the society. The bad effects on health due to abuse of recreational drugs were also discussed.

Khawbung being a border village, there is ready availability of various kinds of drugs through the porous borders, stated a press release.

The local residents were advised not to indulge in such illegal activities which can impair their future. Support of women and elders was incorporated to highlight the ill effects of drug abuse.

The locals appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for having organised such events for the betterment of society.
