Assam Rifles distributes water storage tanks in Mizoram

AIZAWL: Living upto the motto 'Friends of the North-East', the Serchhip Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), distributed five plastic water storage tanks in Cherhlun village of Hnahthial district of Mizoram on Tuesday, stated a press release.

The distribution of the tanks was done under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme and the water tanks were handed over to village authorities at a function. The function was attended by villagers, including the village council president and other stakeholders. The provision of the water tanks will facilitate storage of water in all seasons and, thereby, resolve scarcity of water in the remote village. Furthermore, the project will also help for infrastructure and economic development of the remote village.

While giving vote of thanks, the villagers expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for providing public utility facilities in the area and stated that these projects will certainly help in strengthening the bond between the civil populace and the Assam Rifles.
