Assam Rifles provides aid to orphanages, schools in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), distributed essential commodities to orphanages/schools at Zokhawsang, Hnahlan and Kawlbem villages on Wednesday.

According to a press release, this social welfare drive was initiated with an aim to provide ration and other essential items to orphanages/schools at Zokhawsang, Hnahlan and Kawlbem villages. It was aimed at providing the children in these organizations with energy and opportunity in terms of basic amenities, so as to help them flourish and grow at par with

the rest of society. This much-needed support by Assam Rifles amidst the tough times of COVID-19 pandemic was in line with the commitment to their Motto of 'Friends of The Hill People'.

The social welfare drive was organized with a hope that these small initiatives will not only bring relatively bigger changes in the lives of the individuals, but also instill positivity in their minds which will subsequently lead them to better, enriched and bright future.

Meanwhile, another press release informed that the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted a free medical camp at Saiha on Wednesday.

The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment and free medicines to the local populace by a specially-constituted medical team of this unit. Approximately 100 local residents benefitted from the medical camp. Apart from providing medical assistance, basic knowledge on health education, including

Precautions against common viral diseases like malaria, was also imparted. The importance of hygiene and sanitation was also explained to the villagers for better living standard. The Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles has been forthcoming in providing medical assistance to the local populace of Mizoram. The unit had conducted a gynaecology camp at Tuipang in February, 2022. The local populace expressed their gratitude towards the Battalion and appreciated the efforts made by Assam Rifles.
