Assam Rifles recovers illegal weapon; 1 held in Mizoram

AIZAWL: In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Aizawl Battalion under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered illegal weapon recently. The operation was carried out at Bethlehem Vengthlang, Aizawl district, Mizoram, based on specific information.

The operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnel and CID (SB), Aizawl representatives. The team had specific information of possible dump of illegal weapon in general area Bethlehem Vengthlang, Aizawl. Spot checking was carried out and during checking, one 303 Rifle was recovered and one individual was detained.

Use of such weapons could have endangered the lives of innocent people and led to various illegal activities. This recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives. The apprehended individual and weapon were handed over to Police Department, Aizawl, stated a press release.
