Mizoram: 107-Year-Old Monk Burnt Alive In Massive Fire

AIZAWL: In a secluded Mizoram community, a massive fire claimed the life of a 107-year-old Buddhist monk and completely destroyed five homes.

The fire started at a Buddhist temple in Longpuighat hamlet, Lawngtlai district late on Thursday night. According to district police, an inquiry is being conducted, and the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.

They stated that the incident was most likely the result of an electric short circuit. Locals claim that the dead monk's house is where the fire originally appeared to start. According to district administration officials, the incident resulted in the loss of property estimated to be worth three crore rupees.

Early on Friday morning, a fire started in an apartment complex in the Rajgarh neighbourhood of Guwahati.

According to the information gathered, the apartment complex's fourth story was where the flames first appeared. In the meantime, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A number of firefighters have been dispatched right away, and the fire is currently being put out.

A major incident of fire that occurred earlier on February 23 in Guwahati's Hatigaon neighbourhood left up to 127 families distressed and shattered, and many of them complained that they had sustained damages totalling several lakhs.

Those who had lost crucial documents, including bank passbooks, NRC certificates, insurance policies, voter cards, pan cards, and more, were among the victims of the fire who were severely hurt.

Later, it was discovered that just a few of the 127 families were renting their homes and making a living as masons and roadside sellers. According to sources, Riju Ali owned the majority of the thatched homes that were consumed by the fire. It is thought that an electrical short circuit caused the fire, which originated in Riju Ali's home. Nevertheless, the precise origin of the fire was not discovered right away.
