AIZAWL: On January 15, Assam Rifles found two people and 98,000 Triproldine HCL and pseudoephedrine tablets worth Rs 9.80 crore in the general region of Thuampui, Mizoram. Based on a particular intelligence, the operation was carried out by the CID (SB), Aizawl, and the Aizawl Battalion of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the supervision of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).

The approximate cost of the 98,000 recovered triprolidine HCL and pseudoephedrine tablets is Rs 9, 80,000,000, according to an official release. According to an official release from the Assam Rifles, "the confiscated cargo and apprehended persons were handed over to Special Narcotics Police Station CID)Crime), Aizawl on January 15, 2023, for further legal procedures."

For the state of Mizoram, the ongoing smuggling of illegal substances is a serious source of concern. The operation against the smuggling activities in Mizoram was successfully launched by the Assam Rifles, who are aptly known as the "Sentinels of the Northeast," it continued.

On January 13, the Assam Rifles also made a seizure of foreign-origin whisky in Zokhathar, Mizoram's Champai district, valued at Rs 11.99 lakh. The seizure was made following a sizable liquor haul that was undertaken in the Chaphai district's Zokhawthar village, close to IMB XG-III.

Earlier, an operation was started based on specific information, according to a news release from the BSF's Mizoram and Cachar Frontier.

"Acting on a specific intelligence report regarding the transit of drugs, the BSF's Field Intelligence Unit and Karimganj's Customs Division pursued an Alto car on National Highway-06 into Meghalaya. The Hilara Railway Crossing was where it was stopped, according to BSF.

"Suspected yaba tablets (in 89 little packets) were found hidden inside the left door of the car after a search. The press report stated that the car's driver had also been taken into custody. According to BSF officials, the cost of each yaba tablet in international markets is $1,000, and the value of the items confiscated is believed to be $1.7 crore.
