Mizoram All Set to Host the 10th International Tourism Mart in Aizawl

AIZAWL : Mizoram is hosting the 10th International Tourism Mart for the first time in Aizawl. On Thursday, the 17th of November, Union Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister, G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the International Tourism Mart in Aizawl. The event is a collaboration between Union Tourism Ministry and Mizoram Tourism Department, to showcase the tourism potential of Northeast in both domestic and international markets. 

The mart will demonstrate tourism potentials of the eight northeast states and its cultural abundance, there will also be sightseeing visits to a tourist resort at Reiek.

According to G. Kishan Reddy, the International Tourism Mart will stress on the 'priorities of G20 for tourism track' as India will be in power, with a year-long presidency of the influential group from 1st of December 2022 to 30th of November 2023. Reddy urged everyone to to use the G20 meetings to demonstrate the cultural abundance. The prime focus is decided to be on the increase in worldwide funding in all the sectors such as entertainment centres, wellness and tourism, stated Reddy during inauguration of the Mart.

In the Mega event, Reddy who also holds the Tourism and Cultural portfolios, further mentions that, NDA government has successfully restored the peace in some problematic areas of northeast through its substantial developments. Union Government is now inclined towards the development of infrastructure in northeast region.

The public anticipates overall development of the region as the situation has got better now, hence several development activities are carried out by the Centre. He further talked about the progress of 100 roadside facilities, including viewpoints in the northeast.

The Union Minister claims that northeastern region has massive capabilities when it comes to tourism. He also announced about the plan of setting up a National Digital Tourism Mission to promote tourism in the country. This is the first time Mizoram is organising International Tourism Mart, earlier Guwahati, Agartala, Gangtok, Shillong and a few more states of northeast has hosted the mart.
