
AIZAWL: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Mizoram Regional Office organized a State Credit Seminar in Aizawl, attended by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who inaugurated the State Focus Paper 2025-26. The seminar was conducted to discuss the role of credit and financial inclusion in rural development and the priority sectors to be chosen for the Annual Credit Plan.
The senior officials, bankers, and developmental agencies such as NGOs were also present at the seminar. Pankaja Borah, General Manager (OIC), NABARD, Mizoram Regional Office, received the guests and highlighted the significance of the State Focus Paper in development planning and underscored the credit's and credit enablers' role in changing the rural economy.
The seminar also had presentations from T Lhungdim, General Manager (OIC) of Reserve Bank of India and Lalnilawma, Minister of Rural Development, Horticulture, and PHED, Government of Mizoram. The presentations gave an overview of the efforts made by RBI and the government to foster financial inclusion and rural development.
The State Focus Paper 2025-26 estimates probable credit needs under various sectors, such as agriculture and allied sectors, micro, small, and medium enterprises, and other priority sectors. The paper sets an overall assessment of Rs. 2984.59 crore, which is likely to direct the banking sector in preparing its Annual Credit Plan for the year 2025-26.
