Aizawl: Mizoram Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte has said that the number of students enrolled in government schools has witnessed a jump.

According to him, the enrollment of students has increased due to the government's effort to improve education and school infrastructure.

''The number of students enrolled in government schools is now witnessing a jump and in some schools, the number of students has surpassed the present accommodation,'' he said while addressing the celebration of Mizoram Middle School Teachers Association (MSTA) Silver Jubilee.

''Due to rising in enrollment of students in government schools, some additional benches have to be installed beside the existing ones,'' he added.

Ralte further informed that despite the financial hurdles caused by the pandemic, the state government didn't hesitate in taking several reforms to improve the education quality.

Appreciating his government, he said that more than 2,000 teachers and staff have been appointed so far since the Mizo National Front (MNF) came to power in December 2018.
